Prevalence of Accessory Sacroiliac Joint and Its Clinical Significance

Objective: To determine the prevalence of accessory sacroiliac joint (ASIJ) on both computed tomography (CT) images and dry bones ultimately, to contribute literature.
 Materials Methods: CT archived in Radiology department Gaziantep University Medical Faculty obtained from 145 individuals (104 males 41 females) as well 92 sacral were examined. 
 Results: The ASIJ among was 15.2%. more commonly (52%) located at posterior portion SIJ level second dorsal foramen. In 48% bones, identified just above first Unilateral observed 10.8% bilateral 4.4% bones. On images, found 7.8% 7.2% females. total variations 28.9%, 6.8% them ASIJs.
 Conclusion: It should be kept mind that may a source arthritis chronic hip pain. presence sought through imaging studies for early diagnosis ASIJ.
